Haryana Gram Panchayat Election Results 2016 – 2nd Phase Vote Counting Winners :
Campaigning for the second phase of Haryana panchayat elections concluded on Friday. The fate of more than 25,000 candidates would be decided by voters on January 17.
The results of the elections to the posts of sarpanches and panches would be announced on the same day.
Already, 86 sarpanches, 42 panchayat samiti members and 12,903 panches have been elected unanimously. The election will be to the remaining 9,376 seats. The State Election Commission said that it received 50,239 nominations for 23,095 posts. Of these, 47427 nominations were found to be in order.
This is the first that the elections are being held under the amended rules of the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act.
Wasim Akram, a 21-year-old candidate from Alipur Tigra village in district Mewat said there are three other candidates vying for the post of sarpanch in his village. Having dropped out after Class 10, Hamid was looking for a job before he decided to contest the election.
Campaigning in the village, he says that he would ensure overall development of the area.
Another candidate in the district Hamid, a 31-year-old at Neemkhera will also be contesting against three other candidates. Involved in agriculture, Hamid supported the condition for minimum qualification saying, “It will get educated sarpanches in villages who would bring about more development.”
Several incidents of clashes and defects in the Electronic Voting Machines were reported during the first phase of the election. Due to this re-polling is scheduled to take place in 17 booths.
